DAY 8 Enliven & ground gentle upper body flow | illuminate 30-day challenge 2026

Welcome to Day 8 of the 30-day challenge where we use imagery to connect us into grounded, earthy energy and draw from a Qi gong inspired sequence at the beginning of the practice to mobilise and open up the shoulders.

Good morning, I am just tapping in to the lovely longer practices/challenge sequences at the weekends, and doing 10 min practices during the week. However, I love all the refreshing additions you try out in the longer ones, I really enjoyed that Qigong today. I also wanted to say, it's lovely having this quieter space available, I joined this month, thanks for setting it up. Appreciation and solidarity from Germany 🇬🇧🇩🇪🇦🇺🙏🏼 PS Our kids received some lovely yoga cards for Christmas and they choose different moves and take over sometimes 🙃 but I'm glad they're enjoying yoga and mindfulness practices too.

Hello Hannah, I'm so glad you are making the practices work and fit in for you ❤️. Those cards look wonderful! How great that your little ones are joining (or taking over!), thank you for sharing xox p

That was lovely, thank you. Funny how the shoulders can be so different to each other - clicking in different parts of the rotation 🙏

I'm glad you enjoyed it Gabby. Yes the shoulders are complex structures and interesting to feel how one side can feel quite different to the other, this is quite common. xox p

Struggled with yesterday’s session somewhat, very challenging, but completed it and didn’t die…today was great as it hit the sore spots! I feel as if I’m future depositing into my old age existence - one of flexibility and calmness.

I practice Qigong also but have never done the two arms teacup at the same time. Nice surprising moves. Love this movement to soften shoulder joints.

I loved the breath/energy flow imagery at the start. My left shoulder is so awkwardly clunky during the teacup movement, no pain just annoying. Maybe will improve with practice.✅☮️💖

Thanks Tan. The shoulder socket is quite a complex structure and it can feel a bit bumpy (particularly when trying to move through a large range of motion). As long as there is no pain that should be fine, however if you try again, perhaps take it at your own pace (slowing down slightly through the bumps) and try making the movement a little smaller to begin with - and then if it feels okay you can start to go a bit larger again. xox p ❤️

What an exquisite and perfectly sized teacup to practice with (and definitely motivation to not drop it!). Actually having something tactile in your hand is quite helpful xox ❤️

Thank you Paula for this practice. My shoulders are loosened. The Qigong inspired sequence is a lot of fun. I find myself doing more of it after. Maybe the teacup won't drop so often.
